Portuguese Nuno Borges moved into the second round of the Qatar Open by beating Finnish lucky loser Otto Virtanen 7-6 (6), 6-3 at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha.
Borges, ranked No 39, will face the winner of the match between Russian Andrey Rublev, the No 5 seed, and Kazakh Alexander Bublik next.
