Eastbourne Open: Brooksby reaches last eight

American lucky loser Jenson Brooksby beat Portuguese Nuno Borges, the No 8 seed, 6-4, 6-4 to move into the quarter-finals of the Eastbourne Open at the Devonshire Park Lawn Tennis Club on Wednesday.
Brooksby, ranked No 149, will play the winner of the match between wildcard Daniel Evans and American Tommy Paul, the second seed, next.
The American won against Argentinian Francisco Comesana (7-6 (6), 6-4) in the previous round of the Eastbourne tournament.
In the previous round of the Eastbourne tournament, Borges, ranked No 37, won against wildcard Jack Pinnington Jones (4-6, 6-3, 6-3).
