Bautista Agut advances to Kitzbuhel final

No 3 seed Roberto Bautista Agut reached the final of the Generali Open by beating No 5 seed Albert Ramos-Vinolas 6-3, 7-6 (3) at Kitzbühel Tennis Club on Friday afternoon.

Bautista Agut, ranked No 20, will play the winner of the match between Austrian wildcard Filip Misolic and German Yannick Hanfmann next.

The 34-year-old Spaniard is the 19th man from his country to reach the final at Kitzbuhel – he improves to 26-11 on the season and will bid for his second title of 2022 and his 11th title of his career.

Bautista Agut converted three of ten break points as he won for the second time in three tour-level meetings with Ramos-Vinolas.

Earlier in the tournament, Roberto Bautista Agut won against Austrian wildcard Jurij Rodionov (6-1, 6-4) and edged out Czech Jiri Lehecka (4-6, 7-5, 7-5).

Ramos-Vinolas, ranked No 52, won against Peruvian Juan Pablo Varillas (6-3, 6-4) and No 7 seed Pedro Martinez (6-4, 6-2) in the previous rounds of the Kitzbuhel.
