Frenchman Arthur Fils advanced to the last eight of the Halle Open by defeating German wildcard Dominik Koepfer 6-3, 6-4 at the Owl Arena/Gerry-Weber-Stadion on Wednesday.
Fils, ranked No 37, will play the winner of the match between Italian Lorenzo Sonego and German Alexander Zverev, the second seed, next.
Ahead of his victory, the 20-year-old Frenchman won against Tomas Machac (6-4, 6-4).
Koepfer, ranked No 70, benefited from the abandonment of Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the No 8 seed (6-4, 4-3) in the previous round of the Halle tournament.
