Kazakh Alexander Shevchenko edged out German wildcard Rudolf Molleker 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the second round of the Hamburg Open at the Rothenbaum Tennis Center on Monday evening.
Shevchenko, ranked No 56, will play the winner of the match between No 7 seed Luciano Darderi and Lorenzo Sonego next.
