American qualifier Michael Mmoh advanced to the last 8 of the Bank of China Hong Kong Tennis Open by winning against Russian Karen Khachanov, the No 4 seed, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (4) on Thursday night.

Mmoh, ranked No 285, will play American Marcos Giron next.

The American defeated Chilean qualifier Alejandro Tabilo (7-5, 6-4) ahead of his victory.
