No 5 seed Alex Michelsen won against Learner Tien 6-4, 6-2 to advance to the second round of the Houston Open at River Oaks Country Club on Monday.
Michelsen, ranked No 34, will face the winner of the match between German Yannick Hanfmann and American Nicolas Moreno De Alboran next.
