Indian Wells Masters: Popyrin reaches third round

Australian Alexei Popyrin, the No 26 seed, beat Belgian Zizou Bergs 7-6 (4), 7-5 to advance to the third round of the Indian Wells Masters at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Friday.

Popyrin, ranked No 27, will face the winner of the match between Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 4 seed, and American Marcos Giron next.

In the previous round of the Indian Wells Tennis Masters, Bergs, ranked No 53, won against American qualifier Ethan Quinn (7-6 (2), 6-3).
