Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis advanced to the second round of the Indian Wells Masters by winning against American Marcos Giron 6-3, 7-5 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Wednesday evening.
Kokkinakis, ranked No 99, will play No 3 seed Jannik Sinner next.
