Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 5 seed, won against American Frances Tiafoe, the No 14 seed, 7-5, 7-6 (4) to reach the final of the Indian Wells Masters at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Saturday evening.

Medvedev, ranked No 6, will face the winner of the match between Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the top seed, and Italian Jannik Sinner, the No 11 seed, next.

The Russian beat American Brandon Nakashima (6-4, 6-3), Belarusian Ilya Ivashka (6-2, 3-6, 6-1), German Alexander Zverev, the No 12 seed (6-7 (5), 7-6 (5), 7-5) and Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, the No 23 seed (6-3, 7-5) earlier in the tournament.

In the previous rounds of the Indian Wells Tennis Masters, Tiafoe, ranked No 16, defeated Marcos Giron (6-2, 6-2), Australian Jason Kubler (6-3, 6-2), Chilean qualifier Alejandro Tabilo (6-4, 6-4) and No 10 seed Cameron Norrie (6-4, 6-4).
