Chilean qualifier Cristian Garin moved into the second round of the Japan Open by winning against Japanese wildcard Sho Shimabukuro 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo on Tuesday night.
Garin, ranked No 94, will play Australian Alexei Popyrin next.
