Alexander Bublik wins back-to-back titles! Just one week after winning the sixth title of his career in Gstaad, the Kazakh player continued his winning streak by claiming his seventh title on the clay courts of Kitzbühel.

In the final, Alexander Bublik defeated France’s Arthur Cazaux, ranked 100th in the world, whom he had already beaten during his victorious run in Gstaad (6-4, 6-3).

He is now on an eight-match winning streak on the ATP Tour and has a record of 17 wins and 2 losses since Roland Garros. He is the second player to win three titles on the tour this year after Carlos Alcaraz (five).

“These were probably the toughest two weeks of my life, the conditions were difficult between Gstaad and Kitzbühel,” Alexander Bublik said after his victory. “If you keep playing like this, Arthur, you’ll be very successful, so keep it up,” the Kazakh also said during the ceremony.

BUBLIK MOVES UP FIVE PLACES IN THE ATP RANKINGS

The first set was very close between the two men. In very humid conditions, Arthur Cazaux had the first three break points, which were saved by Alexander Bublik, notably with two drop shots. The Kazakh then responded by earning three break points of his own on his opponent’s serve at 4-3, but was unable to convert them.

Under pressure after Bublik’s comeback, Cazaux finally cracked at the worst possible moment, serving to stay in the set at 5-4. Relieved after winning the first set, the Kazakh let out a huge cry when he saw his opponent’s ball go out of bounds.

The world number 30 then had a brief moment of relaxation, which the Frenchman took advantage of to break his serve and quickly take a 2-0 lead in the second set. But Alexander Bublik reacted quickly and won five consecutive games to take the lead, 6-4, 5-2. He didn’t falter when it came to closing out the match on his serve and was visibly moved after the match point.

Thanks to this superb week on the clay courts of Kitzbühel, Alexander Bublik will move up five places in the ATP rankings to 25th. The Kazakh, who withdrew from Toronto, will now be able to rest a little before starting his North American tour in Cincinnati.
