Los Cabos Open: Kovacevic advances to last eight

American qualifier Aleksandar Kovacevic moved into the last eight of the Los Cabos Open by edging out Australian Rinky Hijikata 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 at the Cabo del Mar Sports Center on Wednesday.

Kovacevic, ranked No 100, will play Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas, the second seed, next.

Ahead of his win today, the American won against qualifier Brandon Holt (6-1, 6-4).

Hijikata, ranked No 79, beat Serb Miomir Kecmanovic, the No 6 seed (6-3, 7-6 (2)) in the previous round of the Los Cabos tournament.
