Marrakech Open: Darderi advances to final

Luciano Darderi defeated Roberto Carballes Baena 6-3, 6-2 on Saturday and will play the winner of the match between Tallon Griekspoor and Kamil Majchrzak next

Italian Luciano Darderi, the No 7 seed, advanced to the final of the Marrakech Open by defeating Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena, the No 5 seed, 6-3, 6-2 at Royal Tennis Club de Marrakech on Saturday.

Darderi, ranked No 57, will play the winner of the match between Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, the top seed, and Pole qualifier Kamil Majchrzak next.

The Italian won against American Tristan Boyer (6-4, 6-4), Frenchman Hugo Gaston (2-6, 6-2, 6-3) and Vit Kopriva (7-5, 6-2) earlier in the tournament.

In the previous rounds of the Marrakech tournament, Carballes Baena, ranked No 51, beat Moroccan wildcard Taha Baadi (7-6 (3), 6-3), Finn Otto Virtanen (6-4, 6-4) and Portuguese Nuno Borges, the No 4 seed (6-4, 6-4).
