Marrakech Open: Carballes Baena takes out third seed Evans to reach quarters

Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena defeated No 3 seed Daniel Evans 6-4, 7-6 (3) to reach the last eight of the Marrakech Open at Royal Tennis Club de Marrakech on Thursday.

Carballes Baena, ranked No 64, will play the winner of the match between Belgian qualifier David Goffin and American qualifier Nicolas Moreno De Alboran next.

The Spaniard benefited from the abandonment of Italian qualifier Matteo Gigante (6-2, 2-0) in the previous round of the Marrakech tournament.
