Marrakech Open: O’Connell beats third seed van de Zandschulp, moves into last eight

Australian Christopher O’Connell reached the quarter-finals of the Marrakech Open by winning against Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp, the No 3 seed, 6-7 (8), 6-4, 6-0 at the Royal Tennis Club de Marrakech on Thursday.

O’Connell, ranked No 87, will play the winner of the match between Russian Pavel Kotov and Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi, the No 7 seed, next.

Ahead of his victory, the Australian beat Italian qualifier Riccardo Bonadio (7-5, 6-4).
