Marseille Open: Altmaier eases into quarters
Daniel Altmaier beat Otto Virtanen 6-4, 6-3 on Wednesday evening and will play the winner of the match between Russian Karen Khachanov, the No 3 seed, and Serb Hamad Medjedovic in the next round

German Daniel Altmaier advanced to the quarter-finals of the Marseille Open by beating Finn Otto Virtanen 6-4, 6-3 at the Palais des sports on Wednesday evening.
Altmaier, ranked No 80, will play the winner of the match between Russian Karen Khachanov, the No 3 seed, and Serb Hamad Medjedovic next.
In the previous round of the Marseille tournament, the German won against Italian Luca Nardi (6-2, 6-2).
Virtanen, ranked No 98, edged out American Sebastian Korda, the No 5 seed (6-7 (3), 7-6 (4), 6-4) in the previous round of the Marseille tournament.
