Shevchenko stuns No 3 seed Khachanov to reach semi-finals in Metz

Alexander Shevchenko moved into the last four of the Metz Open by winning against No 3 seed Karen Khachanov 6-4, 6-4 at Arènes de Metz on Thursday.

Shevchenko, ranked No 63, will play the winner of the match between Luca Van Assche and wildcard Pierre-Hugues Herbert next.

In the previous rounds of the Metz tournament, Alexander Shevchenko defeated French qualifier Mathias Bourgue (6-4, 7-5) and Hungarian lucky loser Mate Valkusz (7-5, 2-6, 6-2).

Khachanov, ranked No 15, beat Frenchman Constant Lestienne (6-4, 6-4) in the previous round of the Metz tournament.
