Portuguese Nuno Borges advanced to the second round of the Mexican Open by beating American qualifier Nick Chappell 6-3, 7-6 (3) at the Princess Mundo Imperial in Acapulco on Tuesday night.
Borges, ranked No 85, will face Dane Holger Rune, the No 4 seed, next.
