Monte-Carlo Masters: Zverev defeated Bautista Agut to reach the last 16

German Alexander Zverev, the No 13 seed, defeated Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut 6-4, 6-4 to reach the last 16 of the Monte-Carlo Masters at Monte-Carlo Country Club on Wednesday.

Zverev, ranked No 16, will play the winner of the match between Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 3 seed, and Italian wildcard Lorenzo Sonego next.

The German edged out Kazakh Alexander Bublik (3-6, 6-2, 6-4) in the previous round of the Monte-Carlo tournament.

In the previous round of the Monte-Carlo tournament, Bautista Agut, ranked No 29, won against Serb lucky loser Filip Krajinovic (5-7, 7-6 (10), 6-1).
