Monte-Carlo Masters: Zverev books spot in last 16

German Alexander Zverev, the No 5 seed, reached the last 16 of the Monte-Carlo Masters by winning against Austrian Sebastian Ofner 6-3, 6-4 at Monte-Carlo Country Club on Tuesday.

He has now won all eight of his opening-round matches in Monte-Carlo, and extends his current winning streak on clay to six – having won his last tournament on the surface, in Hamburg last July, without dropping a set.

Zverev, ranked No 5, will play the winner of the match between Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry and Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 12 seed, next.

Ofner, ranked No 44, defeated Daniel Evans (6-1, 6-4) in the previous round of the Monte-Carlo tournament.
