Italian Luciano Darderi edged out Serb Miomir Kecmanovic 2-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Munich Open at the MTTC Iphitos complex.
Darderi, ranked No 47, will play the winner of the match between Dutch lucky loser Botic van de Zandschulp and American Ben Shelton, the second seed, next.
In the previous round of the Munich tournament, the Italian defeated Australian lucky loser Christopher O’Connell (7-6 (3), 7-6 (3)).
Kecmanovic, ranked No 48, edged out American Marcos Giron (6-2, 6-7 (2), 7-6 (9)) during the first round of the Munich tournament.
