Munich Open: Shelton defeats Van de Zandschulp to make quarter-finals

American Ben Shelton, the second seed, won against Dutch lucky loser Botic van de Zandschulp 7-6 (1), 6-3 to move into the quarter-finals of the Munich Open at the MTTC Iphitos complex.
Shelton, ranked No 15, will face Italian Luciano Darderi next.
The 22-year-old American edged out Croat qualifier Borna Gojo (4-6, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (3)) ahead of his victory.
In the previous round of the Munich tournament, Van De Zandschulp, ranked No 89, edged out Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut (6-4, 3-6, 6-4).
