Madrid Masters: Cobolli reaches third round as Rune retires injured

Italian Flavio Cobolli advanced to the third round of the Madrid Masters when Dane Holger Rune, the No 8 seed, retired at the Caja Mágica.

Cobolli, ranked No 36, led 6-2 when Rune, ranked No 9, pulled out on Friday evening at the Caja Mágica.

The 22-year-old Italian will play American Brandon Nakashima, the No 31 seed, next.

In the previous round of the Madrid tournament, Flavio Cobolli won against Hungarian Fabian Marozsan (7-6 (4), 7-5).
