Madrid Masters: Comesana stuns Fils with stirring comeback to make third round

Argentinian Francisco Comesana advanced to the third round of the Madrid Masters by winning against Arthur Fils, the No 13 seed, 7-6 (4), 6-4 at the Caja Mágica.

The Frenchman had been leading 5-1 in the first set before the Argentinian produced a remarkable fightback to take the opener on a tiebreak before sealing a memorable win against his higher-ranked opponent.

Comesana, ranked No 70, will face Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 20 seed, next.

In the previous round of the Madrid tournament, the Argentinian defeated Spaniard Pedro Martinez Portero (6-4, 6-4).
