Qatar Open: French qualifier Muller advances to quarter-finals in Doha

French qualifier Alexandre Muller defeated Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp, the No 8 seed, 6-2, 6-4 to reach the quarter-finals of the Qatar Open at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha on Wednesday afternoon.

Muller, ranked No 170, will play the winner of the match between German Alexander Zverev, the No 4 seed, and wildcard Andy Murray next.

The Frenchman edged out Georgian lucky loser Nikoloz Basilashvili (7-6 (3), 6-7 (8), 6-4) in the previous round of the Doha Open.

In the previous round of the Doha Open, Van de Zandschulp, ranked No 34, won against Belarusian Ilya Ivashka (6-2, 7-5).
