Rio Open: End of the run for Fonseca, beaten by Navone

Argentinian qualifier Mariano Navone reached the last four of the Rio Open by defeating Brazilian wildcard Joao Fonseca 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 at the Jockey Club Brasileiro in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday night.

Navone, ranked No 113, will play second seed Cameron Norrie next.

The 22-year-old Argentinian won against Federico Coria (1-6, 6-4, 6-2) and German Yannick Hanfmann (6-1, 6-2) ahead of his victory.

In the previous rounds of the Rio tournament, Joao Fonseca won against Frenchman Arthur Fils, the No 7 seed (6-0, 6-4) and Chilean Cristian Garin (6-4, 6-4).
