Rio Open: Ramos-Vinolas moves into quarter-finals

Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas, the No 7 seed, defeated Colombian Daniel Elahi Galan 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the last 8 of the Rio Open at the Jockey Club Brasileiro in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday evening.

Ramos-Vinolas, ranked No 47, will face Spaniard Bernabe Zapata Miralles next.

The 35-year-old Spaniard edged out Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry (5-7, 6-4, 6-4) in the previous round of the Brazilian Open.

In the previous round of the Brazilian Open, Galan, ranked No 88, won against Argentinian Pedro Cachin (7-6 (4), 6-4).
