Rio Open: Zapata Miralles moves into last eight

Spaniard Bernabe Zapata Miralles advanced to the quarter-finals of the Rio Open by winning against Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 4 seed, 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 at the Jockey Club Brasileiro in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday evening.

Zapata Miralles, ranked No 63, will play Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas, the No 7 seed, next.

Ahead of his victory, the Spaniard beat Jaume Munar (6-3, 7-5).

Cerundolo, ranked No 33, won against Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena (4-6, 6-3, 6-3) in the previous round of the Brazilian Open.
