Frenchman Alexandre Muller edged out Jiri Lehecka 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (5) to advance to the second round of the Rome Masters at the Foro Italico in Rome.
Muller, ranked No 39, will play No 18 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas next.
