Finnish qualifier Otto Virtanen won against Serb Hamad Medjedovic 6-4, 6-4 to move into the second round of the Rome Masters at the Foro Italico in Rome.
Virtanen, ranked No 130, will play No 8 seed Lorenzo Musetti next.
