Rome Masters: Gigante advances to second round

Italian wildcard Matteo Gigante advanced to the second round of the Rome Masters by winning against Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech 7-6 (4), 7-6 (4) at the Foro Italico on Thursday.

Gigante, ranked No 164, will play No 20 seed Jakub Mensik next.
