Frenchman Alexandre Muller won against Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the No 18 seed, 6-3, 6-2 to advance to the third round of the Shanghai Masters at the Qi Zhong Tennis Center on Friday night.
Muller, ranked No 74, will face the winner of the match between Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 10 seed, and Japanese wildcard Kei Nishikori next.
The Frenchman defeated Italian Luca Nardi (4-6, 6-1, 6-1) in the previous round of the Shanghai tournament.
