Canada’s Denis Shapovalov was knocked out in his opening match at the ATP Stuttgart Open at Tennis Club Weissenhof on Thursday.

The 23-year-old left-hander was defeated in two tie-breaks 7-6 [6], 7-6 [4] by Germany’s Oscar Otte, ranked No 61, in second round action after he received a first round bye.
