Stuttgart Open: Fucsovics edges Yibing Wu to reach quarter-finals

Hungarian qualifier Marton Fucsovics edged out Chinese Yibing Wu 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 to move into the quarter-finals of the Stuttgart Open at Tennis Club Weissenhof on Thursday.

Fucsovics, ranked No 86, will face the winner of the match between Russian Aslan Karatsev and American Taylor Fritz, the second seed, next.

The Hungarian edged out Canadian Denis Shapovalov (3-6, 6-3, 6-4) in the previous round of the Stuttgart tournament.

In the previous round of the Stuttgart tournament, Wu, ranked No 64, beat Australian Nick Kyrgios, the No 8 seed (7-5, 6-3).
