French qualifier Pierre-Hugues Herbert reached the second round of the Stuttgart Open when Bosnian Damir Dzumhur retired on Tuesday at Tennisclub Weissenhof Stuttgart.

Herbert, ranked No 132, led 6-4, 3-0 when Dzumhur, ranked No 67, pulled out at Tennisclub Weissenhof Stuttgart on Tuesday.

The 34-year-old Frenchman will face No 3 seed Ben Shelton next.
