American Mackenzie McDonald moved into the quarter-finals of the Tennis Napoli Cup by defeating Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut, the No 3 seed, 6-4, 6-4 on Thursday afternoon.
McDonald, ranked No 74, will face Chinese qualifier Zhizhen Zhang next.
Ahead of his victory, the American won against Italian qualifier Francesco Passaro (6-3, 7-5).
