Tiafoe tops Cobolli, books spot in semi-finals at Delray Beach

American Frances Tiafoe, the second seed, advanced to the last 4 of the Delray Beach Open by beating Italian lucky loser Flavio Cobolli 6-4, 6-2 at the Delray Beach Stadium and Tennis Center on Friday evening.

Tiafoe, ranked No 15, will play American Tommy Paul, the No 3 seed, next.

The American won against qualifier Radu Albot (7-6 (5), 7-6 (4)) ahead of his victory.

Earlier in the tournament, Cobolli, ranked No 72, edged out Japanese Taro Daniel (1-6, 6-2, 7-6 (1)) and defeated American qualifier Zachary Svajda (6-4, 6-7 (1), 6-2).
