American Frances Tiafoe, the top seed, moved into the final of the US Clay Court Championships by defeating Dutchman Gijs Brouwer 6-4, 6-1 at River Oaks Country Club in Houston on Sunday evening.
Tiafoe, ranked No 15, will play the winner of the match between Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry, the No 8 seed, and German qualifier Yannick Hanfmann for the title.
The American won against wildcard Steve Johnson (6-2, 6-4) and Australian Jason Kubler, the No 6 seed (6-4, 6-4) ahead of his victory.
In the previous rounds of the Houston Open, Brouwer, ranked No 123, beat American Aleksandar Kovacevic (6-4, 6-4), American John Isner, the No 4 seed (6-4, 7-6 (4)) and American J.J. Wolf, the No 5 seed (6-3, 6-4).
