Vienna Open: Medvedev outlasts Dimitrov, books quarter-final spot

Russian Daniil Medvedev, the top seed, edged out Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 to move into the quarter-finals of the Vienna Open at the Wiener Stadthalle on Thursday afternoon.

The victory was Medvedev’s 62nd of the season, and means he’ll contest his 14th quarter-final of 2023 in Vienna. Medvedev, ranked No 3, will play Russian Karen Khachanov, the No 8 seed, next.

The Russian beat Frenchman Arthur Fils (6-4, 6-2) ahead of his victory, while in the previous round of the Vienna tournament, Dimitrov, ranked No 17, won against Italian Lorenzo Musetti (6-3, 6-4).
