Zhuhai Open: Karatsev upends Norrie in quarter-finals

Russian Aslan Karatsev beat second seed Cameron Norrie 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5) to advance to the last 4 of the Zhuhai Open at the Zhuhai Hengqin International Tennis Centre on Sunday.

Karatsev, ranked No 63, will face the winner of the match between Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka, the No 8 seed, and German Jan-Lennard Struff, the No 3 seed, next.

In the previous rounds of the Zhuhai tournament, the Russian won against Italian Matteo Arnaldi (6-7 (5), 7-6 (5), 6-2) and No 7 seed Andy Murray (4-6, 6-3, 6-2).

Norrie, ranked No 17, defeated Australian qualifier Marc Polmans (6-0, 6-3) in the previous round of the Zhuhai tournament.
