Frenchman Alexandre Muller defeated Australian Rinky Hijikata 6-3, 6-2 to advance to the second round of the Zhuhai Open at the Zhuhai Hengqin International Tennis Centre on Thursday.
Muller, ranked No 84, will play No 4 seed Sebastian Korda next.
