Australian Open: Keys edges past Ruse to advance into third round

American Madison Keys, the No 19 seed, edged out Romanian qualifier Elena-Gabriela Ruse 7-6 (1), 2-6, 7-5 to move into the third round of the Australian Open at Melbourne Park.

Keys, ranked No 14, will play the winner of the match between Australian qualifier Destanee Aiava and American Danielle Collins, the No 10 seed, next.

The American defeated Ann Li (6-4, 7-5) in the previous round of the first Grand Slam tournament of the 2025 season.
