Australian Open: Korda battles past Kopriva in five sets

American Sebastian Korda, the No 29 seed, reached the second round of the Australian Open by winning against qualifier Vit Kopriva 6-1, 6-4, 2-6, 4-6, 6-2 at Melbourne Park on Monday night.

The American, a former junior champion at the Australian Open, reached the quarter-finals in Melbourne last year.

Korda, ranked No 26, will play Frenchman Quentin Halys next.
