Australian Open: Musetti knocks out Shapovalov to advance into third round

Italian Lorenzo Musetti, the No 16 seed, moved into the third round of the Australian Open by winning against Canadian Denis Shapovalov 7-6 (3), 7-6 (6), 6-2 at Melbourne Park.

Musetti, ranked No 15, will face American Ben Shelton, the No 21 seed, next.

The 22-year-old Italian beat Matteo Arnaldi (7-6 (4), 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-3) ahead of his victory.

In the previous round of the first Grand Slam tournament in 2025, Shapovalov, ranked No 56, edged out Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut (3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 7-6 (8)).
