Australian Open: Zverev eases past Martinez to make third round
Alexander Zverev won against Pedro Martinez Portero 6-1, 6-4, 6-1 on Wednesday and will face Jacob Fearnley in the next round

German Alexander Zverev, the second seed, moved into the third round of the Australian Open by defeating Spaniard Pedro Martinez Portero 6-1, 6-4, 6-1 at Melbourne Park on Wednesday.
The six games he conceded are the fewest he has ever dropped in an Australian Open singles match.
Zverev, ranked No 2, will face Jacob Fearnley next.
Ahead of his victory, the German won against French wildcard Lucas Pouille (6-4, 6-4, 6-4).
Martinez Portero, ranked No 44, benefited from the abandonment of Italian Luciano Darderi (6-3, 4-1) in the previous round of the first Grand Slam tournament in 2025.
