Team Europe won the Laver Cup 13-5 by sending out a pair who had never played together. Flavio Cobolli and Jakub Mensik beat Alex de Minaur and Taylor Fritz 7-5, 6-3 in Sunday's opening doubles, with Carlos Alcaraz rested because, said Tim Henman, "he's feeling it in his body", and Alexander Zverev finished the job against Learner Tien.

Alexander Zverev beat Learner Tien 7-6 (3), 6-3 to win the Laver Cup for Team Europe, 13-5 in London and back on the trophy they lost in San Francisco last year. The German, already a Roland-Garros and US Open champion this season, is the man who finished it off.

Beaten by Taylor Fritz in San Francisco last year, Carlos Alcaraz saved two match points to take the rematch 6-3, 4-6, 13-11, crediting Casper Ruud for telling him from the bench to stop overplaying. Ruud and Alexander Zverev then beat Bublik and Nakashima 6-4, 7-6 (7) to send Team Europe into the final day leading.
