00h04VERDASCO WINS 17-13, 20-11, 15-14, 12-20
So there is a four-way tie for first place after Verdasco gets his first UTS win. -
00h01HOT SHOT - Verdasco forehand (which Benoit Paire appreciates)
Take a bow @FerVerdasco 👏

Even @benoitpaire loved El Fuego's scorching forehand pick-up. #UTShowdown pic.twitter.com/S40xtYTkeZ -
23h57Quarter 4: Tied 9-9
With a four-way tie in place after the weekend, number of sets won and games won will take high importance. So this quarter matters to both players if they want to reach the final four. -
23h47VERDASCO WINS QUARTER 3 15-14
And the Spaniard clinches his first #UTS win and there will be a four-way tie for first place after the weekend. -
23h44Hot Shot (NOT)
Net Cord Ace for Benoit Paire - No lets at #UTS2, what do you think of the rule?
So cruel!
— Tennis Majors (@Tennis_Majors) July 26, 2020
How about this second-serve ace off the net cord for @benoitpaire? #UTShowdown pic.twitter.com/xl5NRFIrbA -
23h39Quarter 3: Verdasco leads 7-4
It's been a really solid performance by Fernando Verdasco today. And he's threatening to put this match awaw without any drama. -
23h31VERDASCO WINS QUARTER 2 20-11
It may have all come down to that missed volley by Paire at 11-13, because once that happened it all fell apart.
"We were super equal until the last three minutes more or less," said Verdasco.
-
23h28Quarter 2: Verdasco leads 14-11
With less than two minutes left Paire has the cards in his favor. He goes for Winners x 3... let's see what he can do.
Noooooo Paire had an easy volley to take the lead but pushed it just wide! -
23h22Quarter 2: Paire leads 8-6
After smashing a backhand return winner it is the Rebel who takes the lead at the 5:00 mark in quarter two. Can he hang on? -
23h16VERDASCO WINS QUARTER 1 17-13
Paire had the slimmest of chances at the buzzer. He was serving with :08 left and using his "next point counts 2" card. But Verdasco stayed calm and won the point to expand his lead as time expired.
Nevertheless it was a good job by Paire to close the gap and make a quarter of it. -
23h14Quarter 1: Verdasco leads 11-8
Paire nearly had the quarter tied up but Verdasco scores a two-pointer to lead by three with 3:50 left in the quarter. And El Fuego is stealing serve next. -
23h10UPDATE: Paire's Hair
Hair looks juuust fine, Benoit 😂#UTShowdown | @benoitpaire pic.twitter.com/YDYJbkH9z3
— UTS | Ultimate Tennis Showdown (@UTShowdown) July 26, 2020 -
23h07Quarter 1: Verdasco leads 6-0
Exactly the start El Fuego wanted. Not exactly the start that Benoit Paire wanted. -
22h46RICHARD GASQUET WINS 15-13, 19-9, 12-16, 13-10
And gasquet finishes the weekend in first place for Group A. -
22h42Quarter 4: Gasquet leads 11-10
Under a minute to go and the Frenchman has two serves. -
22h40Quarter 4: Gasquet leads 8-7
Change of fortune as Popyrin loses both points with his "next point counts 2" card and Gasquet wins one of his two with the same card. About three mins to go. -
22h38Quarter 4: Popyrin leads 6-4
5:50 left and Popyrin is out in front thanks to a double-fault on the last point. Now the Sniper is going for the cards. -
22h30POPYRIN WINS QUARTER 3 16-12
The Sniper stops Gasquet's six quarter winning streak with a very solid performance and he's still alive in this contest. Can he force sudden death now?
-
22h25Quarter 3: Poyprin leads 13-9
Gasquet uses his "next point counts 2" card and comes up empty.
Popyrin takes a crack at it and aces on his first point before winning the next. -
22h23Quarter 3: Tied 6-6
Three on the trot from Popyrin, including a dazzling point to level at 6-all in which he had to fend for his life against Gasquet's groundies.
A much-needed coaching timeout for the Aussie ensues. -
22h21Quarter 3: Gasquet leads 6-4
Gasquet presses ahead but Popyrin strikes a forehand winner to pull within two points -- and now he's serving.
-
22h15GASQUET WINS QUARTER 2 19-9
Just relentless tennis from the Virtuoso, as Gasquet pounds Popyrin into submission in the second quarter. It's six quarters on the trot this weekend.
It's what we've come to expect from Le Virtuoso at #UTS
— Tennis Majors (@Tennis_Majors) July 26, 2020
Relentless tennis and gorgeous stroke production from @richardgasquet1 pic.twitter.com/tdHQ6uB58g -
22h10Quarter 2: Gasquet expands 14-6
The Virtuoso wins a marathon point with his "next point counts 2" card and his coach Julien Assiagne calls for a timeout. When he returns Gasquet makes it 14-6. Surely there's no way back for the Aussie with 2:10 left. -
22h09Quarter 2: Gasquet leads 10-6.
It looks like the Sniper's hard work in quarter one has left him a bit gassed. Gasquet quickly to the front in the second stanza. -
22h00GASQUET TAKES QUARTER 1 OVER POPYRIN 15-13
It was a close quarter and The Sniper will be disappointed that he has nothing to show for it. The Aussie had a chance to level up at 13-all but Gasquet used his backhand to wear him down and expand his lead with under a minute to go.
From there he cruised to make it five quarters up and five quarters down at UTS2. -
21h55Quarter 1: Gasquet leads 13-10
The Frenchman edges in front and he's about to use his "Winners x 3" card. He does so, getting just one point from each point. -
21h51Quarter 1: Popyrin leads 9-7
What do we have here? The Sniper uses his "next point counts 2" card to win four straight and take the lead. -
21h30FELICIANO LOPEZ WINS IN SUDDEN DEATH!
17-9, 14-15, 12-16, 16-12, 2-0
El Torero needs just one match point and when he gets it Dimitrov double-fault. The loss for Dimitrov means that the Bulgarian can no longer qualify for the semi-finals at UTS2.
Lopez, meanwhile, ends the weekend at 2-0. -
21h28LOPEZ WINS QUARTER 4 16-12
And we are off to sudden death...
-

Back to back doubles for Dimitrov and Lopez is in the driver's set. -
21h20Quarter 4: Lopez leads 5-3
Dimitrov ekes out his second point on serve to keep it close. He needed that. -
21h12DIMITROV WINS QUARTER 3 16-12
Well played by Dimitrov, who looks like a UTS expert now after taking two quarters on the trot. -
21h10Quarter 3: Dimitrov Leads 13-9
The Bulgarian is in charge now after using his "next point counts 2" card to lead by 12-9 and splitting the next two points on Lopez's serve.
Just over one minute left in the quarter. -
21h06Quarter 3: Dimitrov leads 6-5
Lopez is out of cards and behind by a point, but he is serving next with over 6 minutes left. -
21h02HOT SHOT: Dimitrov dazzling return
Clearly Dimitrov is starting to find his form at UTS2...
Oh -- HELLO 💥

How about this dazzling return from @GrigorDimitrov #UTShowdown pic.twitter.com/Eg0FNIFL4O
-
21h00QUARTER 2: DIMITROV WINS IT 15-14
The Bulgarian stole that one late with some clutch play and we are locked in at a quarter apiece. -
20h57Quarter 2: Lopez leads 14-13
It's Lopez to serve after Dimitrov scores a two-pointer to draw closer with less than a minute left. -
20h52Quarter 2: Tied 10-10
Once again the Spaniard earns four points from his "Next point Counts 2" card and though Dimitrov counters with his "Winners count 3" card, the Bulgarian is only able to score one point each. -
20h50Quarter 2: Dimitrov leads 5-3
The Bulgarian takes two straight on his serve to lead early in Q2. No cards in play just yet. -
20h48From the Headset: What made Feliciano Lopez so good in that first quarter?
The siesta!
"The siesta, the famous siesta." @feliciano_lopez credits nap time 😴 for his superb performance in quarter one against @GrigorDimitrov pic.twitter.com/ff5t3ntR3H
— Tennis Majors (@Tennis_Majors) July 26, 2020 -
20h42QUARTER 1: LOPEZ WINS 18-9
Dimitrov never quite could crawl back into it and it is Lopez who pulls away with a seven-point margin. -
20h40Quarter 1: Lopez leads 13-7
Dimitrov was inching closer, but the Spaniard steals serve and takes two straight points to lead by six with just over two minutes left. -
20h38Quarter 1: Lopez Leads 10-4
Lopez uses his "Next Point X 2" card for a quick four points and stretches his lead to 10-4 with just under 5:00 to go. Has Grigor gotten his wake-up call yet? -
19h04DUSTIN BROWN WINS IN SUDDEN DEATH!
18-12, 13-17, 13-14. 19-9, 3-1
The German produces a miracle dive to finish off the contest in sudden death...

18h57QUARTER 4: DUSTIN BROWN TAKES IT 19-9
And now we buckle up for sudden death. -
18h53Quarter 4: Brown leads 14-8
And sudden death is coming as Brown takes a 14-8 lead and calls a coaching timeout with 2:01 left... -
18h49Quarter 4: Brown Leads 8-5
The German is angling for sudden death.
Meanwhile, Corentin Moutet has hops...

18h42QUARTER 3: MOUTET WINS 14-13
It was close the whole way but Moutet once again was able to finagle the crucial points. -
18h40Quarter 3: Moutet leads 13-11
Brown was serving but Moutet stole two points magnificently to lead by two with :30 left on the clock. -
18h39Quarter 3: Moutet leads 9-8
Moutet uses the "Next Point Counts 2" card to take a slim lead but he's not quite happy with his play.
Now it's Brown's turn to use the card so stay tuned. -
18h29CORENTIN MOUTET WINS QUARTER 2 17-13
It was a tense quarter but Moutet delivered in the clutch to break it open late. A very strong response from the Tornado. And we are even at a quarter apiece. -
18h27Quarter 2: Moutet leads 15-11
The Tornado uses the "Steal Serve" card at 13-11 and it pays off as he stretches the lead to four points with one minute to go in the quarter. -
18h22Quarter Two: Tied 9-9
Moutet uses his "Each Point Counts 2" card to level at 9-all and Brown goes for a coaching timeout with just under four minutes to go in the stanza.
Where do we go from here? -
18h21Quarter 2: Brown leads 9-7
Moutet had a 7-3 lead but Brown used the "Points Count two" card to level at 7-7 and then stole serve to lead 9-7. Crafty use of the cards and Moutet is looking frustrated again. -
18h17DUSTIN BROWN TAKES THE FIRST QUARTER 18-12
It was an even start to things, but Brown really dialed up his shotmaking to take this quarter with ease. He seemed to get in a zone out there. -
18h17It seems Corentin Moutet has a good plan for Quarter 2 v Dustin Brown.
What's he going to do? Slap him!
What is @moutet99 going to do to change things in quarter two against @DreddyTennis ?
