Serb Novak Djokovic, the No 3 seed, advanced to the final of Roland-Garros by winning against Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the top seed, 6-3, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 at Stade Roland-Garros in Paris on Friday afternoon.

Djokovic, ranked No 3, will face the winner of the match between Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 4 seed, and German Alexander Zverev, the No 22 seed, next.

The 36-year-old Serb beat American Aleksandar Kovacevic (6-3, 6-2, 7-6 (1)), Hungarian Marton Fucsovics (7-6 (2), 6-0, 6-3), Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, the No 29 seed (7-6 (4), 7-6 (5), 6-2), Peruvian Juan Pablo Varillas (6-3, 6-2, 6-2) and Russian Karen Khachanov, the No 11 seed (4-6, 7-6, 6-2, 6-4) ahead of his victory.

Earlier in the tournament, Alcaraz, ranked No 1, defeated Italian qualifier Flavio Cobolli (6-0, 6-2, 7-5), Japanese Taro Daniel (6-1, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2), Canadian Denis Shapovalov, the No 26 seed (6-1, 6-4, 6-2), Italian Lorenzo Musetti, the No 17 seed (6-3, 6-2, 6-2) and Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 5 seed (6-2, 6-1, 7-6 (5)).
