Roland-Garros: Haddad Maia saves match point to beat Alexandrova and move into last 16
Beatriz Haddad Maia edged out Ekaterina Alexandrova 5-7, 6-4, 7-5 and will play Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo in the next round

Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 14 seed, edged out Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 23 seed, 5-7, 6-4, 7-5 to advance to the last 16 of Roland-Garros.
The Brazilian has to fight from a set down to come through a very testing encounter. Serving at 5-4 down in the final set, the 14th seed saved a match point to hold, before breaking her Russian opponent in the next game and serving out for the win.
Haddad Maia, ranked No 14, will play Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo next.
The Brazilian won against German Tatjana Maria (6-0, 6-1) and edged out Russian Diana Shnaider (6-2, 5-7, 6-4) in the previous rounds of the French Open.
Earlier in the tournament, Alexandrova, ranked No 23, defeated Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova (6-1, 2-6, 6-1) and German Anna-Lena Friedsam (6-2, 6-0).
